The
QUV Accelerated Weathering Tester simulates the damaging effects caused
on surfaces of products, by sunlight, rain and dew. Materials are exposed
to alternating cycles of light and moisture at controlled elevated temperatures.
The effect of sunlight with fluorescent ultraviolet lamps. It simulates
dew and rain with condensing humidity and water sprays. Exposure conditions
can be varied to simulate various end-use environments.
The QUV series of fluorescent testers are the most widely
used in the world.
QUV can quickly reproduce the damage that occurs to
exposed surfaces. These could comprise : fading, color change, gloss loss,
chalking, cracking, crazing, hazing, blistering, strength loss, embrittlement,
oxidation, etc.
QUV test data can help designers in the selection of
new materials, the improvement of existing materials, or the determination
of how the changes in formulation affect product durability.
The QUV helps to determine the longevity of products
in harsh environments.
QUV Benefits
Conforms to ISO, ASTM, national and international standards
and many industrial specifications. Economical and saves operating costs.
Easy maintenance and calibration. Easy to use, install, and programme.
Complete self-diagnostic error checking to monitor the performance of
all systems. Timely alerts and warning messages.
QUV Features
- Totally Automated
- Menu driven diagnostics
- 24/7 operation
- Unlimited cycles
- Completely user serviceable with easy access to all parts
- Easy to use specimen holders and retaining rings
- Requires little floor space
- Test Duration Timer settable for: stop test, sound alarm, display
message, all of the above or do nothing
- Digital display of test conditions and times; allows fast, easy,
flexible programming
- Uses ordinary water, because the water is automatically distilled
in the vaporizing - condensing process
- Long Heater life and easy cleaning facility
- Water level control : easy, visible and external
- Extremely simple, rugged machine with very few potential failure
Sunlight Simulation
The QUV uses fluorescent ultraviolet lamps to simulate
the damaging effects of sunlight. Different types of lamps are available
and these lamps produce mainly ultraviolet rather than visible or infrared
light. The lamps differ in the total amount of UV energy emitted and in
their wavelength spectrum, and they give different test results. The choice
of the lamp depends on the type of test that is to be run, the standard
and the damage sought to be simulated. The lamps available are : QFS-40,
UVA-340, UVA-351, UVB-313.
